With a different song to illustrate each phase Steve takes you on a 24 hour journey through a day in the life of a working musician. 'Safe as Houses' 'Cars' 'Hard Shoulder' 'Friends' and a host of other Knightley classics guide you on your way.
When he first started playing the guitar, Steve heard 'The Freewheeling Bob Dylan' album which inspired him to learn how to finger pick and write his own songs. He says 'I never realised that Dylan was using classic British traditional folk music melodies, structures and memes in his writing and this connected me back to the singing of Martin Carthy and Nic Jones"
Steve sings some of The Boss's classics including 'Adam raised a Cain', 'Racing in the Street', 'Downbound Train', 'Dancin' in the Dark' and a host of others.
Steve explains how riffs, fragments of chords, snatches of music and throwaway lines sometimes become songs!
